Waiting for the Lord

This post is lengthy and was hard to organize but I hope it reaches someone  or at least help you not feel alone. These are some simple truths that the Lord has revealed to me and I hope nothing in here takes away from the power of God's Word.

What is waiting for the Lord?
First I'd like to point out that it is not waiting on the Lord but for the Lord. We must always remember that He has a plan for our lives and He isn't waiting on anything. WE are the ones that feel like the timing is wrong. Like he says in
Jeremiah 29:11(KJV) "For I know the thoughts I think towards you, saith the Lord thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end."
(It was through the teachings of Beth Moore that new light was shed and I fell in love with this version of such a common verse.)
I am sure everyone has gone through or is going through a season of waiting on the Lord. Waiting for a life mate(me), a child, a healing, friendship, new job, more money, or a healed relationship...etc. It is a character trait we must be continually growing in and accept as a intricate part of the christian walk.

The first and most obvious verse that comes to mind is Isiah 40:31 "   Those who wait for the Lord will gain new strength; They will mount up with wings like eagles, They will run & not get tired, they will walk and not become weary."

Why must we wait?
* to gain new strength!!
While in the midst of waiting I haven't always felt "new strength". Yet when I look back over the years of waiting I see the amazing growth & strength that has come from the reliance upon the Word of the Lord.
Waiting makes us deep because he is revealing new dimensions of himself to us! IF we are still and listen:)

"I know you are weary of waiting. I know it's hard. But it is a required course in God's curriculum. Avoid being a dropout in God's School of Waiting. Stay there. Stay right there. Your time will come." Charles Swindoll

How do we REALLY wait for the LORD???
While struggling with waiting you really have 2 choices.
1. turn to the "world" and see what it has to replace "it" with
or
*2. Continually seek the Lord through His living word & prayer. Ask for wisdom, understanding & patience.
The new strength comes from us seeking the Lord, and believing in His promises!!

Another great verse on waiting....
Psalm 27:14 " Wait for the Lord; Be strong, and let your heart take courage; yes wait for the Lord"
My heart and my head are not always in sync. (I am becoming aware of this.) I read God's word and on a intellectual level understand and believe in what he says but if I am not careful, I will be too busy looking around me and allow my heart to be deceived. We MUST guard our hearts from the enemy and allow the truths of Scriptures to penetrate into our hearts.
" When was the last time someone encouraged you to wait? Not to be ambitious. Remember what we learned in the previous chapter: if you're gifted, they'll find you. Self promotion is neither necessary or attractive. That's especially true in God's work.I find new things more distasteful than assertive ambition among the young whom God has called. God will raise up Whomever he wishes at His appointed time. So, relax. Be patient." Charles Swindoll

Well that my thoughts for now..........
